Introduction
The world is your oyster as a Corporate Internal Control intern at KLM. You’ll help raise risk awareness among KLM colleagues and contribute to process improvements, with effective internal controls as a key foundation. You’ll also be part of an environment where you can help shape the future of KLM’s Finance organisation. What are you going to do?
This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain insight into all parts of KLM’s business. You’ll work with the Internal Control Coordinators across KLM’s divisions and business units, as well as at Transavia. You’ll also help assess the controls that KLM business management has put in place, under its own responsibility, to address identified risks—both in terms of their design and how effectively they operate.
KLM has a framework for its internal control activities, known as the Internal Control Framework (ICF). It focuses primarily on the reliability of financial reporting. Internal Control is an area of ongoing development and is one of Finance’s key priorities under the “Fundamentals Right” objective. You’ll contribute to assessments, evaluations and reports, and take part in projects and meetings.
Where do you land?
KLM’s Finance organisation is unique. Where else would you find billions being invested in a new fleet, or millions spent on aircraft maintenance? Whatever ambitions we pursue, they all come with a price tag. Finance provides the information, data and insights needed to support those ambitions. We also keep a close eye on costs, high levels of absenteeism and inefficient work processes—ultimately, all of these fall within our remit. This makes Finance essential to KLM’s financial success.
For this internship, you’ll join the Corporate Control department. We monitor KLM’s strategic progress every day and keep track of the health of its financial figures.
You’ll be part of the Corporate Internal Control team, a small team of three with expertise in administrative organisation and internal control (AO/IC).
Your profile
Strong communication and analytical skills are important, as you’ll work closely with colleagues across different departments. We welcome fresh ideas and are always looking for ways to improve. The smoother our processes run, the better it is for the organisation—and we’re looking for someone who’s eager to contribute.
You also:
- Are studying for a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a finance-related field, such as Business Administration, Accounting & Control, Economics or Finance;
- Are interested in sustainability and business operations at a large Dutch company;
- Have a good command of both Dutch and English, spoken and written.
