Intern Business Process Management KLM Parts Trading
Type of vacancy: Internship
City: Hoofddorp
Hours per week: 32-40
Education: Hbo; Wo
Apply before: 11/15/2026
Introduction
Are you an analytical and well-organised university or university of applied sciences student who enjoys understanding and improving processes? Do you relish the challenge of clearly documenting complex ways of working so that everyone knows what is expected of them?
During this internship or graduation project, you will be responsible for mapping and improving all business processes within KLM Parts Trading. From purchasing engines for disassembly to selling parts, you will document the processes, improve work instructions and ensure that our processes are demonstrably compliant. Your work will deliver a tangible result that can be put to immediate use across the department.
What are you going to do?
You will gain an in-depth understanding of day-to-day operations at KLM Parts Trading and discover how work is really carried out: what steps are involved, who does what, which systems and documents are used, and where improvements can be made. Parts Trading uses its own ERP system, AvSight, so you will also map how processes are set up in AvSight and how they align with the department’s way of working. You will then turn these insights into clear process descriptions and instructions that support an efficient, consistent and compliant way of working.
Specifically, you will work on:
- Mapping processes: Documenting and analysing end-to-end business processes within Parts Trading, such as purchasing engines for disassembly, teardowns, inventory management and selling parts to Engine Services and external customers.
- Improving processes: Identifying bottlenecks, duplicated work and risks, and developing practical improvement proposals together with the colleagues involved.
- Work instructions: Writing new work instructions and rewriting and improving existing ones, ensuring they are up to date, consistent and practical for employees to use on the shop floor.
- Compliance: Ensuring that Parts Trading processes comply with applicable quality standards and aviation regulations, in coordination with Safety & Quality and in support of internal and external audits.
- Optimising process descriptions: Standardising and improving existing process descriptions. KLM Engine Services’ Business Process Managers will incorporate your proposals into the internal systems, where they will serve as guidance for Parts Trading employees.
- Implementation and embedding: Involving colleagues in the new way of working, for example through workshops or short training sessions, so that the improvements are put into practice.
You will have plenty of scope to conduct your own research, choose your own approach and put your ideas into practice.
Where do you land?

The Parts Trading department, part of Material Sourcing within KLM Engine Services, sells surplus inventory, purchases engines for disassembly, and sells parts to both Engine Services and external customers. You will work closely with the Parts Trading team and liaise with KLM Engine Services’ Business Process Managers and the Safety & Quality team.
