What are you going to do?

Your Mission

You will play a key role in building the Engineering Performance Management System.

This system will enable teams and leadership to:

  • Understand performance across key dimensions;
  • Identify improvement opportunities;
  • Make better, data-driven decisions.

Your work will directly contribute to how Engineering is steered at scale.

 

What You Will Do

You will own and contribute to building our performance measurement and analytics capability:

  • Define and refine Engineering KPIs across key dimensions;
  • Identify and connect data sources (e.g., Jira, internal systems);
  • Design data models and structure data for analysis;
  • Build interactive dashboards (Power BI or similar);
  • Develop self-service analytics tools for teams and stakeholders;
  • Analyze data and translate it into actionable insights;

  • Flow / Speed – How fast does work move?
  • Quality – Are we delivering reliable results?
  • Predictability – Can we plan and deliver consistently?

Your Deliverables

By the end of your internship, you will have contributed to:

  • A live performance dashboard used by Engineering teams;
  • A set of defined and measurable KPIs;
  • A data model and pipeline supporting performance insights;
  • A self-service reporting capability for stakeholders.

Where You Will Work

You will join the Engineering department within KLM Engineering & Maintenance (E&M).

Our teams:

  • Provide technical expertise to aircraft maintenance operations;
  • Support hangars, fleet services, and component availability;
  • Operate in a safety-critical and highly regulated environment.

You will collaborate with:

  • Agile coaches and transformation leads;
  • Engineers and Product Owners;
  • Stakeholders across multiple business units.

Your profile

  • Student in Data Engineering, Analytics, Information Systems, Business, or similar;
  • Strong interest in data, analytics, and visualization;
  • Experience with Power BI, SQL, or similar tools is a plus;
  • Analytical and structured thinker;
  • Proactive and able to work independently;
  • Comfortable communicating with different; stakeholders;
  • Fluent in English (Dutch is a plus).
