Introduction

The world around us is changing rapidly, leading to KLM's vision of becoming the most data-driven and innovative airline in the world. To realize this ambition, we need to change our way of working, modernize our technology, and seek new innovations to fulfill our promise to our customers. We are looking for ambitious people who can make this ambition a reality! We have an open position for Product Manager – Planning & Assignment level 2 within Ground Operations. This is a role in a dynamic environment, with an emphasis on modernizing our current Planning & Assignment domain.
Do you want to make an impact on our operations at Schiphol by ensuring that all ground processes involved in the turnaround of an aircraft run smoothly? This by assigning the right employees, at the right place and at the right time! Then join as Product Manager for the Planning & Assignment team (CHIP)!

What are you going to do?

This job offers a dynamic and challenging role that provides opportunities for entrepreneurship. The Planning & Assignment team, with their main application GroundStar (CHIP), takes care of the daily planning of all tasks performed by our ground staff. We allocate these tasks for our operational processes among the available personnel. We use optimizations and Business Rules to get the most out of a schedule with the highest goal; punctuality for our passengers!
In this role, you have the lead for the digital tooling. This includes overseeing the development of the tool by and with our supplier. Together with your own Product Team, you ensure the continuous improvement of the Tooling to seamlessly (continue to) align with KLM's ground operation.

You navigate through a complex stakeholder field that includes interaction with stakeholders from various departments, such as Baggage Services, Passenger Services, Fuel Service, Water and Toilet services, Catering Services, Apron Services, and several other crucial ground processes. In addition, you have regular contact with our suppliers and Air France. Visits to our supplier in Germany and/or colleagues from Air France may be part of this role. With enthusiasm, creativity, and vision, you can transform the way of working, modernize the technology, and generate buy-in from stakeholders. Have you always wondered what goes into the turnaround (everything out, everything in) of an aircraft? Then this is your chance!

Additionally, we encourage:

  • Think and work along with the larger Platform Ground vision;
  • Manage all different products and members in your team;
  • Dedicated time for personal development on Friday afternoons;
  • Quarterly Hackweek for innovative ideas.

Where do you land?

You will join the Data & Technology Business Platform Ground. Platform Ground is responsible for a seamless passenger journey and aims for the perfect aircraft turnaround. At Platform Ground, we support our colleagues on the apron, in the baggage halls, and in the departure hall (both at Schiphol and at all our International Stations) by improving existing IT products or developing and implementing new ones, so they can do their work as efficiently as possible.

It also means working within our Innovation culture of Data & Technology, which includes a Hacking Week, dedicated time for Learning & Development, and being part of our practice communities. In our diverse Data & Technology organization, we work on creating and maintaining an inclusive atmosphere where you can be yourself, regardless of how you look, what your passport says, what your religious beliefs are, or who you embrace when you get home. In short: it’s not about who you are, but how you are.

Your profile

We are looking for a Product Manager who is up for a challenge! While you can make a huge impact with your product, we didn’t say it would be easy ;-). You can take responsibility for a complex product that needs to be modernized for a broad and diverse stakeholder field. You can focus on your long-term vision and ensure that your product(s) evolve towards that ultimate goal. You are able to inspire and motivate your team while effectively managing your stakeholders and stimulating their digital mindset. You feel comfortable dealing with divergent opinions, can handle resistance in a changing environment, and are able to persuade others. You like to go the extra mile and derive satisfaction from achieving your set goals. Obstacles are challenges for you, and where others see problems, you see opportunities and solutions.

Also, you have:

  • intrinsic motivation to be on the ground and support our operational colleagues;
  • experience managing a complex and diverse stakeholder landscape;
  • experience defining a product vision and roadmap;
  • a college degree or university degree;
  • fluent in both Dutch and English.
