Introduction
"Are we ready to take off✈️?" This is one of the most important questions within KLM.
The airline industry is turbulent and has developed very quickly in recent years. KLM's mission is to become the most Data & Technology driven airline in the world. Changing the way we work, modernizing our technology stack and architecture and the right positioning of the people in this Data & Technology organization is key to achieving this ambition.
Business Platform Flight contributes to this mission with around 180 IT products, 50% of which are developed in-house and are distributed across several value streams. These value streams support processes within Flight Operations, Inflight Services, Fleet Services and KLC.
As a BPA you are connected to one of these value streams, where you are the link and provide a translation between IT colleagues and various business representatives.
What are you going to do?
Agile Scrum is used within our value streams and you will work closely with Product Owners, Software Engineers, Designers and Business Owners. It could be that a new cabin class category or aircraft type is introduced, for which we need your analytical and communicative skills to get requirements and processes down on paper and then translate them to the product team. On other days you will walk with colleagues in the business (including Pilots, Cabin Crew, Training Managers, Planning & Assignment) and dive into processes to help think about improvement opportunities and user adoption.
Daily BPA activities;
• Facilitate changes within business processes by understanding current business processes.
• Collecting, specifying and prioritizing user requirements (incl. acceptance criteria).
• Identify APIs and web services for requirements.
• Support the Product Owner in setting priorities and providing insight into business value.
• Testing acceptance criteria with end users and within the business process.
• Analyzing business impact based on product KPI(s) and other business case metrics.
• Perform necessary technical configurations to (vendor) applications in line with end user requirements.
• Stimulate user adoption (e.g. giving product workshops, sharing relevant communication).
• Ensure solid data management within value stream(s).
• Support colleagues within value stream(s).
Value streams;
• Planning, Assignment & Rostering
• Flight Platform Modernization Squad
• Crew Training & Operational HR
• Crew Pre- and On-Flight Support
• Product on Board
• Flight Planning, Execution, Completion & Flight Tactical
• Airworthiness
Where do you land?
You will land within one of the product teams within our department. Business Platform Flight deals with several key processes in preparation for and on-board flights. It ranges from training pilots on time, so they are qualified to fly to optimizing crew scheduling, fuel and meals on-board.
Your profile
• HBO/ WO background at Bachelor level
• Enthusiastic and proactive professional with an interest in aviation
• Experience with modeling business processes (a.o. BPMN & ML modeling)
• Strong in identifying problems and inefficiencies within processes making improvement proposals
• Experience with understanding and analyzing product impact and KPIs using various data
• Experience with gathering requirements and translating them into Jira tickets (e.g. features, user stories, bugs)
• Experience with stakeholder management and improving user adoption (e.g. by identifying and addressing issues where necessary)
• Sound knowledge of data management principles and their application.
• Strong communication skills in Dutch and English
• Motivated to develop in the field of IT, to grow within the BPA role and within aviation
