Introduction

The Maintenance Repair and Overhaul division of Air France-KLM is a leading player within the industry. Besides maintaining our own fleet, we also maintain the aircraft, engines, and components of more than 150 customers. Are you ready to make our organization smarter with the help of Big Data, AI, and data analytics?

What are you going to do?

Are you passionate about turning data into real impact? As an Analytics Translator in KLM Engineering & Maintenance (E&M), you work at the crossroads of aircraft engineering, IT development, and maintenance operations. Our operation generates vast amounts of data — your mission is to translate it into business value through next-generation analytics and digital solutions.

From planning optimization and stock forecasting to predictive maintenance and beyond, you help shape the future of how KLM maintains and operates its fleet. As part of the Analytics Translators Team within the E&M Big Data organization, you connect business needs with data and technology to deliver impactful solutions. Your role spans the full product lifecycle — from ideation to deployment and sustainment — ensuring data-driven tools are successfully integrated into our daily operations and their value is tracked and recognized.

Your tasks will include (but are not limited to) business and product analysis, making sure that our development team has no issues working on the tickets you’ve created. Your key responsibilities include:

· Acting as a bridge between business and development teams: translating complex needs into clear user stories, tickets, and data requirements.

· Proactively engaging with (key) users and stakeholders to identify opportunities and co-create analytics solutions.

· Analyze data, data models, and existing business processes to define actionable, detailed requirements and ensure the development team can deliver effective solutions.

· Create business cases and track the value and impact of analytics products, ensuring alignment with E&M’s strategic objectives.

· Scout and evaluate new data-driven technologies and opportunities for E&M.

· Participate in cross-functional agile teams to deliver impactful products efficiently.

· Manage stakeholders at various levels of the organization, up to MT members and VPs.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in KLM’s advanced analytics transformation, helping integrate innovative solutions into real-world maintenance and engineering processes — and see the tangible results of your work on the operation. You’ll also contribute to shaping and implementing the Big Data & AI strategy for E&M, working closely with passionate colleagues from business and IT in one of our agile product teams.

Where do you land?

At KLM Engineering & Maintenance (E&M), you will become part of the innovative and energetic E&M Big Data team within the E&M Engineering organization, working alongside a product owner and analytics translator lead. Our products support a broad audience of engineers, planners, technical specialists, and management in their daily business. Our offices are located at Schiphol-East Technical Area, right in the middle of the aircraft maintenance operation.

Your profile

· MSc in a technical field (e.g. Aerospace, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or similar).

· At least 2 years of experience in business data analysis in an industrial or operational context.

· Proven experience working with data analytics and IT development, ideally in an Agile/Scrum environment.

· Strong analytical skills and a goal-oriented mindset, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and business value.

· A proactive, innovative attitude and the confidence to work independently while contributing as part of a team.

· Excellent communication skills in English.

· The ability to manage multiple topics simultaneously and switch easily between strategic and operational work.

· A genuine passion for helping KLM E&M become a more data-driven organization using analytics and data science.
