Introduction
For Air France Industries/KLM E&M, a flexible and future-proof IT landscape is essential to support strategic objectives. The world of aircraft maintenance is constantly evolving. Core processes require smart integration solutions, digitalization, and an increasing use of predictive maintenance (enabled by Big Data). Changing market conditions demand stronger collaboration with subsidiaries, suppliers, and customers. Flexibility, scalability, and transparency in IT integration are therefore crucial. The IT organization responds to this by designing the application landscape based on modern architectural principles. Customer needs are translated into reference architectures, and we work according to agile principles within the SAFe framework.
What are you going to do?
As an SAP Integration Architect, you are the go-to specialist in system integration within the Engineering & Maintenance domain. SAP plays a central role in this, alongside systems such as Maintenix, Documentum/xCP, and various supplier platforms. Your focus is on designing, co-developing, and managing robust integration architectures between these systems, with SAP as the central hub. You develop and maintain integration patterns (e.g., APIs, middleware, events, and services), ensuring scalability, reusability, and reliability. Together with business and domain architects and other IT architects, you work on integration solutions that optimally support business processes. You translate business requirements and evolving strategies into sustainable and manageable architectures, ensuring seamless alignment between SAP systems and the broader IT landscape. You take the lead on integration issues that span multiple projects and provide clarity to stakeholders, liaising with internal teams, external vendors, and your French colleagues at Air France. You mentor integration developers and architects within the teams and actively invest in their growth. In addition, you lead initiatives to further professionalize the integration capabilities within the department.
Where do you land?
You will work closely with other domain and IT/Solution architects on further developing the application and integration landscape. This is done in close collaboration with agile product teams, release trains, and project groups. You’ll participate in weekly architecture meetings where knowledge and experiences are shared. When needed, you’ll travel to France to coordinate and collaborate with your Air France counterparts. You’ll find yourself in an international environment with a dynamic workplace—right between the hangars and aircraft at Schiphol-East.
Your profile
You are an experienced integration architect with deep knowledge of SAP and connecting systems through middleware solutions. You’ve actively contributed to the implementation of several complex SAP systems and thrive in a dynamic, multicultural environment. International collaboration comes naturally to you.
You possess sharp analytical skills, can clearly communicate technical complexity, and build bridges between IT and business. You are result-oriented, communicatively strong, and take initiative in guiding teams and establishing stable integration architectures.
You also have:
- A master’s degree in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or a similar field;
- At least 5 years of experience as an IT architect with a focus on SAP integration;
- Knowledge of and experience with:
- SAP integrations via middleware such as SAP PI/PO, SAP Cloud Integration, and optionally TIBCO;
- Integration concepts like SOA and the use of SOAP technologies, particularly SAP ABAP Proxy;
- REST services;
- The use of XSL(T) and XSD for modeling and transforming messages;
- API management and event-driven architectures;
- Frameworks such as TOGAF, ArchiMate, and SAFe;
- Experience working with reference architectures and service-oriented landscapes;
- A plus if you’re familiar with MRO processes and digitalization solutions in the maintenance domain;
- Excellent command of both Dutch and English (French is a plus);
- Willingness to travel regularly to France.
