Internship Internal Control KLM E&M
Type of vacancy: Internship
City: Schiphol Oost
Hours per week: 32-40
Education: Hbo
Apply before: 05/25/2025
Introduction
From sustainability issues to budgeting and from fraud control to change management: KLM Finance is more versatile than you might think. Whatever you tackle here, you are, in any case, part of the financial-strategic heart of KLM.
For example, because you document results, identify risks, and continuously look ahead: this is how you learn with us to ensure a solid foundation on which colleagues can base their decisions.
What are you going to do?
By the end of your internship, you will have learned what is necessary to assess and document important business processes. This includes financial processes, but also processes around environmental, social, and governance (ESG) data. You will have contributed to these assessments and understand how to identify and mitigate risks.
You will have met many colleagues from different departments, such as auditors, lawyers, and financial experts, and learned how to collaborate with them. Additionally, you will have gained insight into how to translate sustainability, KLM rules, and external requirements into recommendations for our colleagues.
Additionally:
- You will assist in assessments, investigations, and their documentation;
- You will participate in projects and meetings;
- You will approach people inside and outside KLM for the data you need;
- You will proactively think about how processes within KLM can be improved.
Where do you land?
At Engineering & Maintenance (E&M), the largest technical company in the Netherlands. Here, we perform maintenance and repair work in XXL format for our fleet and other airlines.
The Finance organization of KLM is unique. Where else are billions invested in a new fleet or millions spent on aircraft maintenance? Whatever ambition we want to realize, everything comes with a price tag. Fortunately, Finance is there to provide the right information, data, and insights.
We are alert about cost projections, but also when there is a lot of absenteeism or inefficient work processes – ultimately, everything touches our field. This makes us indispensable for the financial success of the organization.
Your profile
It is important that you are strong in communication and analysis because you must be able to collaborate well with different departments. New ideas are very welcome as we are always looking for improvements.
The smoother a process, the better for the organization – and we are looking for someone who is eager to contribute to that.
Furthermore:
- You are pursuing an HBO or WO degree in a financial direction, such as Business Administration, Accounting & Control, Economics, or Finance;
- You are interested in sustainability and business operations in a large Dutch company;
- You speak and write Dutch and English well.
