Licensed Engine Mechanic

Type of vacancy: Regular
City: Schiphol Oost
Hours per week: 40
Education: Mbo
Apply before: 12/31/2024

Introduction

The sky’s the limit for a licensed engine mechanic at KLM. You will maintain, overhaul and modify aircraft engines and individual components. It will also be your responsibility to certify them. With your experience, you’ll serve as a role model for junior mechanics. You’ll have the opportunity to personally excel and guide colleagues in their professional development, each and every day.

What are you going to do?

When a damaged aircraft engine arrives at the Engine Shop, you determine its condition. Taking apart the engine, you check each component thoroughly: what needs to be replaced and what materials are needed? If necessary, you consult a specialist. After the repair, you ensure everything meets module specifications and prepare the engine for shipment. You also mentor new colleagues: you teach them the tricks of the trade, so that they’re able to work independently as soon as possible.

Additionally, you:

  • test engines for internal damage, and identify any defects;
  • work with various engine types;
  • always keep the customer’s wishes in mind;
  • report daily to the team lead and the lead mechanic at the Engine Shop;
  • handle administrative tasks;
  • adhere strictly to safety protocols.

Where do you land?

You'll join Engine Services, a division of Engineering & Maintenance (E&M). Here, we not only maintain our own fleet, but also aircrafts for clients the world over. You will be part of the Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) department, in a team of about twenty colleagues. We work in shifts, alternating days and evenings. At MRO, we use digital tools more and more often, so we can work smarter and more efficiently. Check out our department here.

Your profile

Tinkering with components, big and small, is right up your alley. You're a true technician and enjoy every opportunity to work with your hands. You do your job quickly, but accurately. You identify any mistakes right away. Safety – yours and your team’s – is paramount to you. That’s why you always speak up if your colleagues aren’t following protocols. You enjoy sharing your expertise and experience with junior mechanics, and helping them get to know the department.

In addition, you:

  • have obtained a secondary vocational education;
  • are authorized to do certifications;
  • speak and understand Dutch and (technical) English well;
  • have a minimum of one year of experience as an engine mechanic;
  • are familiar with CFM56-7B, CF6, GEnx, and LEAP engine types.

Competencies

We offer

  • A gross salary between € 3.042 and € 4.020 per month;
  • Plenty of scope for personal development and great advancement opportunities;

  • An excellent pension scheme and 8% holiday allowance;
  • A year-end bonus of 8.33%;
  • A profit-sharing scheme, up to 20%;
  • 25 leave days and 5 extra days off;
  • 7 extra days off if you work irregular shift;
  • Substantial discount on airfare (when you have been employed for at least 6 months);
  • A travel expense scheme and free use of the bus network around Schiphol;
  • If your job allows it: working from home and up to 8 weeks working from abroad (EU and Caribbean);
