Introduction

We are looking for a talented data scientist who mainly gets motivated by providing value to the stakeholders. Apart from fluency in various computer languages, you communicate fluently in English, and Dutch is a plus. You enjoy talking to colleagues from various departments as much as talking to ChatGPT. You are able to spot opportunities for data science in business processes, and able explain complex data science topics to a wide audience, and don’t mind opening PowerPoint next to your IDE to summarize some findings. 

What are you going to do?

Day-to-day activities include:

- Talking to business stakeholders about requirements or to gather feedback on your work

- Analyzing business challenges and coming up with a proposal to solve it

- Building machine learning and/or optimization models and getting them into production

- Optimizing and monitoring existing models

- Doing ad hoc analysis on any issue the business might be facing

Where do you land?

You will be part of the SKY-AI team, one of the first data teams created within KLM. A young and ambitious team in the business platform flight. The team consists of Data Scientists, Data Engineers and BI Developers who work together according to the Scaled Agile way of working.

Your profile

Your profile

We are looking for passionate and talented Operations Research experts, for curious builders who are biased towards action, communication and enjoy working in a fast-paced and international environment.

· Having a relevant master's degree and at least 4 years of experience in Operations Research roles in an enterprise or commercial setting.

· Proficient in Python object oriented coding (with Pandas and multiple machine learning packages)

· Proficient in Operations Research and in at least one solver (Gurobi preferably, Cplex, COIN-OR etc.) Nice to have: Experience with simulation.

· Knowledge of SQL, Docker, Google Cloud and/or other Cloud Providers is a big plus

· Proactive and independent way of working

· Data visualization skills are a plus

· Jira

· Vscode / PyCharm

· Proven experience with the development and industrialization of an application - senior

· Being able to explain complex technical topics to peers, non-technical colleagues and management in an easy to digest way and adapt style to suit the audience.
