Historic company, brand new technology

KLM is continually developing, searching for innovative applications. Since our first flights at the beginning of the last century we have been discovering new worlds, first literally and now figuratively. For example, we dive into our gigantic data lakes to reduce fuel consumption. Or, for example, we blur the lines between reality and virtuality when applying VR and AR during training sessions for cabin crew. Not bad for a 103 year-old lady, wouldn’t you say?

Concrete and tangible work

Take a look around you when you're at, or in the vincinty, of Schiphol. Or try looking up to the skies for a change. Notice anything? Our processes are occurring before your very eyes. From flight handling to aircraft maintenance and from digital check-in to the most sustainable fleet imaginable. It doesn’t get more tangible than this. If you’ve had to roll up your shirt sleeves, or those of your uniform or overalls, all day, you instantly see what it's all been for!

Blue heart in the right place

Why is working at KLM so enjoyable? Ask a random KLM’er and there's a good chance that they'll tell you about the Blue Feeling. It’s difficult to describe exactly what this is. Try to imagine a combination of pride and collectivity. Where everyone's contribution counts, regardless of what makes you… Well, you. Add a good dose of pleasure and you begin to get an idea. KLM is a ‘people organisation' with a large blue heart for service, quality and always ready to do that little bit extra.

Meet the crew

Read the stories of our colleagues

Helen van Dam, first officer B737

‘Every flight is a gift; flying is the most wonderful job that exists.’

‘I enjoy working with my colleagues and making sure that the cockpit offers its passengers a safe and as comfortable as possible flight. At a destination in the lobby, the restaurant or a coffee corner; the KLM stands out. They always have fun together.’

Stefano Zandgrond, crew controller

‘During my aviation study I always longed for the Big Blue One.’

‘The OCC is an amazing place, where we have to work fully focussed. There is however ample time for a chat, what contributes to the pleasant atmosphere. Do we need to come into action because of a delay? We are then focussed in keeping the whole network up and running. It’s either all or nothing. Exactly what I enjoy. Just stay calm. When in contact with the crew I need to be formal yet personal at the same time. Calling colleagues during their overnight stay is never pleasant, but preventing a delay and finding the right solution is rewarding.’

‘I’m not Dutch, but I feel the “blauwe trots”, the blue company pride, every day.’

Inga joined KLM’s pricing management team straight from University. Her father living in Germany who collects KLM houses, an immense international orientated lifestyle and a fascination for financial optimization, a job in Amstelveen was a logical choice. Curious how Inga landed in Pricing and Revenue Management and prepares for her next role in Paris?
