High tech and innovation

As an E&M technician, you'll use the latest techniques whilst working on the newest airplanes, engines and components. Making composite moulds using 3-d scanning? Check. Conducting an internal examination of an engine using a bore scope and obtaining realtime insight in the fleet with '360° Fleet Status'? These are all part of our daily duties at E&M. With a good sense of humour but at the same time professional, deadly serious and passionate, together we move mountains And the customer? They are just as happy as we are when a component or aircraft leaves the hangar, having been revised or checked.

Meet the crew

Milou Hielkema, mechanical fitter Boeing 737

‘Every day is different and together with a friendly team we take full responsibility for an airplane.’

I carry out the C-checks (large-scale maintenance) on the Boeing 737 in hangar 14. In one to four weeks, we disassemble a large number of components. These are then inspected, repaired, installed and tested. From the wings and seats to the fuselage and flight controls: we make sure that everything is in excellent condition before taking to the skies!'

Joep Hogervorst, aircraft maintenance technician

‘At E&M, communication is open and direct. "Maybe” isn't useful to anyone.’

Surrounded by KLM’ers in his family, Joep came into contact with aviation at a young age. Following an internship in the components workshop and an agency contract during the summer, after completing his mbo Aeronautics Joep began work as a maintenance technician. His ambition is to become GWK. ‘At KLM, people treat each other with respect and many things are well organized, I hope to feel at home here for many years to come.’
